WHY DO WE NEED THE GOSPEL?

Because we sin every day and at the verge of eternal death. As we come to God in prayer and repentance, we’re asking Him to forgive us on the basis of Christ’s finished work, which is at the center of the Gospel.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. -Romans 6:23

WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?

The Gospel is the Good News that God has provided for man to BELIEVE

and be freed from the penalty of sin and have eternal life.

1 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, -1 Corinthians 15:1-4

HOW TO OBEY THE GOSPEL?

Believing the Gospel is not enough for us to be saved.

We must obey the Gospel as written in Acts 2:38.

Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. -Acts 2:38

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

“Father in heaven, I know that I have sinned and disappointed You. I need Your forgiveness.

I believe that Jesus died for my sins, He was buried, and resurrected on the third day. I want to turn from my sin and follow You. I trust You as my Savior and ask You to take control of my life.

Thank You for forgiving me and inviting me into Your family. I love You. In Jesus' name, Amen.”
